An all-female group from the Philippines bagged the grand prize at the 2018 K-pop Cover Dance Festival held in Seoul, South Korea. Daisy Siete, composed of 13 members, won the title at the final round of competition held recently at Seoul Plaza. Daisy Siete, Brute from Thailand and Magnet from Japan were all declared grand prize winners this year. Brute and Magnet both performed cover dances of BTS’ “Fake Love” and “Fire.” This is the first time that the Philippines took home the grand prize at the K-pop cover dance festival in Seoul. Daisy won the right to represent the Philippines after winning in the semi-final round on April 22 held by the Seoul Shinmun Daily together with the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines and the Korean Embassy. “The enthusiastic performances of all participating teams were so impressive,” said K-pop girl group member Seol-Hyun who gave the award to the winners. The K-pop Cover Dance Festival, now on its eight year, attracted 3,140 teams from 65 countries in the online and offline preliminary rounds. The final round had 81 contestants from 10 countries. Members of the panel of judges were Jeon Duk-Jung, vice president of Korea Entertainment Producer’s Association; Kim Tae-Hoon, director of Korea Entertainment Producer’s Association; Kim Seok-Chan, choreographer of EXO and Super Junior; and Kang Dong-Hyung, director of Seoul Shinmun Daily.
