Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte stressed Friday that the public must present their quarantine passes or company identification cards (IDs) before being allowed entry in any of the city’s establishments.

In a GMA News report, Belmonte said the surge of the COVID-19 cases in the city prompted them to impose the measure which limits public movement.

She explained the guidelines covers commercial buildings, markets, and shopping centers, among others.

Belmonte noted the need to present the quarantine passes or IDs to deter stubborn individuals from uselessly roaming the streets in the midst of the pandemic.

“Kung hindi naman kailangang lumabas, manatili na lang tayo sa loob ng ating mga tahanan upang maiwasan ang virus (If there is no need to go out just stay home to prevent being infected by the virus),” she added.

Belmonte noted that individuals engaged in outdoor exercises like running, bicycling, tennis, badminton, and golf must also show their quarantine passes.

She said barangays could issue up to two quarantine passes per household.

Belmonte reminded that high-risk individuals or those with medical conditions, those below 21-years-old, 60-years-old and above, and pregnant women are barred from entering malls and shopping centers.

"However, they may enter when indispensable for work or for obtaining essential goods and services, but they must present a quarantine pass or work ID," Belmonte said.

The city mayor asked the city’s malls and shopping centers not to provide free WiFi services to discourage the customers from loitering or staying longer than necessary inside their establishments.

Belmonte directed the city’s law and order cluster, barangays, and the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to strictly enforce the latest guidelines.
