Minor caught for marijuana possession
A 17-year-old boy was arrested after police found marijuana in his possession in a checkpoint along Hermosa Street, Tondo, Manila Wednesday evening.
Police said the minor suspect was initially flagged down in front of Hermosa Police Community Precinct (PCP) at about 6:30 p.m. on Mar. 6 for driving a motorcycle without helmet.
An inspection followed thereafter.
They then discovered dried marijuana leaves, with estimated street-value of P1,000, contained in a clear tube with red cap inside the vehicle’s trunk.
Moreover, authorities recovered separate marijuana leaves worth P300 sealed in a zip lock.
The said illegal drugs were already sent to the crime laboratory of the Manila Police District (MPD) for examination.
The light pink Yamaha Mio motorcycle ridden by the minor suspect was also seized as evidence.
Meanwhile, the arrested juvenile, who is a resident of Sta. Cruz district, was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). (Ria Fernandez)
Village watchman shoots live-in partner in QC
Police said jealousy could have caused a village watchman to shoot his live-in partner in the middle of their argument inside their house in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City.
Quezon City Police Station 6 chief, Lt. Col. Joel Villanueva, identified the victim as Divina Catina, 24, and the suspect, her partner Regenaldo Galaygon, 53, a public safety officer (BPSO) of Barangay Commonwealth.
It appears that Galaygon and Catina were living together for more than five years now.
Police report showed that Galaygon went to their house at 4882 Lower Bayanihan Street around 9:10 p.m. last Tuesday to talk to his partner whom he accused of having an affair with another man.
The conversation of the couple turned into a heated argument which irked the suspect prompting him to take his own firearm and shot Catina's back twice.
The victim managed to run and sought help from their neighbors who rushed her to East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) where she eventually died.
Authorities immediately arrested Galaygon who owned up to the incident.
Seized from him was the caliber. 45 pistol with five live ammunition he used.
Galaygon is now under police custody while a case of homicide will be filed against him. (Alexandria San Juan)
One drug peddler killed, four others arrested in Taguig
An alleged drug peddler was killed while four others were arrested after an armed encounter with joint anti-drug operatives during a buy-bust operation in Taguig City on Thursday afternoon.
Police identified the fatality as Alex Abdul, while the four others including one woman, remain unidentified.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 1:27 in the afternoon at No. 24, Abad corner Famela Street, Barangay South Signal Village, Taguig City.
According to the report, the operation stemmed from the anti-illegal drug operation of the Cubao Police Station 7 last February 28.
This led to the arrest of Cancio Abarrondo the number three drug personality of the station, at Barangay San Roque, Cubao, Quezon City wherein he revealed his drug supplier.
Police confiscated more or less 300 grams of shabu, and a caliber .45 pistol loaded with five pieces of live ammunition. (Dhel Nazario)
