Salinas receives Lifetime Achievement & Leadership Excellence Award

Carlos C. Salinas was honored with the Lifetime Achievement and Leadership Excellence Award at the 10th Asia-Pacific Manning and Training Conference held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza last November 4.
The annual convention was organized by the UK-based Lloyd’s Ship Manager and attended by over 400 maritime executives worldwide – ship owners, ship operators, crew managers, training institutions, maritime associations, government, seafarer and trade union representatives, and P&I claims managers.
Salinas is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTC), which he founded in 1979, and has grown to be an industry leader and one of the largest crew management companies in the Philippines today, deploying thousands of seafarers annually.
Tony Mason, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the International Shipping Federation (ISF), presented the award and gave a resounding testimony of Salinas’ illustrious career.
“His longstanding service to the industry and to the country – over a lifetime – with passion, commitment and dedication, is legendary. He has had a professional career dedicated to molding the Philippine maritime industry and positioning the Philippines and the Filipino seafarer firmly on the world map,” Mason said.
Throughout his career, Salinas has actively served on numerous domestic and international maritime associations, educational institutions and government organizations.
He has recently been reelected as chairman of the Filipino Shipowners Association and as Vice-President of the ISF in London.
Salinas pioneered the employment of full-Filipino crew and pushed for Filipino seafarers to aspire to become Global Maritime Professionals.
He has been actively engaged with both the private sector and the government to promote the Philippine maritime sector.
Salinas was the private sector representative to the Philippine Tripartite delegation for the formulation of the ILO Maritime Labor Convention. He has been working closely with the DoTC in the crafting of the Maritime Code of the Philippines, aimed to further elevate the Philippines’ position of leadership in global shipping.
