46-year-old man found dead in his apartment in Manila The Manila Police District (MPD) is investigating the death of a 46-year-old man whose body was found on his rented apartment in Malate, Manila on Wednesday afternoon. Police Senior Master Sergeant Bernardo Cayayab, the investigator on the case, identified the victim as Jasper Alcoriza, 46, a native of Tagum, Davao City. Cayabyab said they discovered the victim lying on the bottom part of the double deck inside his rented room along Singalong Street, Malate, Manila at around 12:20 p.m. on June 5. There were no signs of any physical injury on his body except blood oozing on his mouth, he added. According to Helen Marasigan, the landlady, she saw the victim alive on June 4 at around 7:00 p.m. after returning from his work in construction nearby. Alcoriza told the landlady that he felt sick and weak. The following day, the landlady said the victim did not show up for breakfast and lunch which prompted them to enter his rented room. Upon opening the door, they discovered the victim was already not moving and there was blood on his mouth. The body was moved to Archangel Funeral Homes for autopsy and safekeeping. Cayabyab said that they will determine whether or not a foul play was involved in the incident. (Erma Edera) Two men arrested for drugging and raping a student in Manila The two men who allegedly drugged and raped a 17-year-old special education (SPED) student was arrested in Tondo, Manila, police said. Manila Police District (MPD)-Raxabago Police Station chief Police Lieutenant Col. Reynaldo Magdaluyo identified the suspects as Manuel Saylo, 19, of Kagitingan Street and Cesar Gabino, 30, of San Ramon Street—both from Tondo, Manila. However, the third suspect, Danny Pelayo, 25, of Banaba corner Masinop Street managed to escape, Magdaluyo said. Investigation showed the victim went to a convenience store with her cousin when Saylo approached and told her to come back sometime. The student ignored him and went home, however, Saylo followed them and lured them to go with him. Police said the next day, the victim’s mother said that her daughter went missing. She sought the help of the barangay and found her daughter who was reportedly tired and shocked. The student confessed that the suspects allegedly forced her to use shabu and molested her at Pelayo’s house. The suspects also threatened to kill her if she did not give in to their demands, she said. The victim’s family reported the incident to the police which led to the arrest of Saylo and Gabino along Balimbing Street in Barangay 123, Zone 9. They both denied the allegations and said that only Pelayo raped the student and inserted a catsup bottle on her private part. They will both charges for violation of the Anti-Rape Law of 1997. Magdaluyo said based on the medical examination, the girl was sexually abused. They will conduct a follow-up operation to arrest Pelayo, he said. (Erma Edera) Four men arrested after being caught red-handed using illegal drugs in Malabon Four men including a minor were nabbed by police for allegedly engaging in a pot session in a parking lot in Malabon Wednesday night. Police identified the suspects as Lance Termulo, 22, jobless; Victor De Vera, 22, fish vendor; Christian Bautista, 18, jobless; and a 17-year-old male alias "Joshua." All are residents of Malabon. Initial investigation showed that barangay watchers received a phone call from a concerned citizen who informed them of an ongoing pot session in a parking lot along Gov. Pascuai Avenue in Concepcion. The watchers then relayed the information to the city police. The officers who responded to the report found the four suspects huddled in a circle and allegedly sniffing marijuana at around 8:30 p.m. This led to the arrest of the three suspects and the rescue of the minor. A lighter, an improvised glass tube, and four plastic sachets containing suspected marijuana were seized from them. The seized items and the arrested suspects were brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory Office in Camp Crame, Quezon City for examination and drug dependency test. (Dylan Afuang) Two men nabbed for distributing illegal drugs in Mandaluyong Two men, who were allegedly caught passing a sachet of illegal drugs, were arrested by patrolling policemen in Mandaluyong City Wednesday night. Police identified the suspects as Julius Portillo, 30, and Renato Teresa, 46. Both are resident of Barangay Plainview in Mandaluyong City. The duo, a police report showed, was along San Miguel Street in Barangay Plainview at around 10:20 p.m. when two patrolling policemen caught them passing to each other a sachet of illegal drugs. The police officers then alighted their motorcycle and apprehended the duo to prevent their attempt to escape after seeing the cops. A sachet of suspected shabu was seized from Portillo and another sachet of illegal drugs was also recovered from Teresa when the officers pat him down, police said. They are now detained at Mandaluyong City Police detention cells were charges for the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act were filed against them. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas) P160,000 worth of high-grade marijuana seized in buy-bust op, 2 suspects arrested Some P160,000 worth of high-grade marijuana known as Kush were seized from two brothers in a drug sting in Quezon City on Thursday morning. Police Lt. Col. Joel Villanueva, Quezon City Police Station 6 (PS-6) commander, said Jason King, a 46-year-old insurance coordinator, and his younger brother Bryan King, 44, a Grab driver, both residents of Valenzuela City, were arrested in a buy-bust in Barangay Bahay Toro. Personnel of PS-6 Drug Enforcement Unit received information about the illegal activity of the two men prompting them to conduct a drug bust against them. An undercover policeman met with the suspects who were inside a gray Toyota Fortuner along Mindanao Avenue at about 5 a.m. and purchased P70,000 worth of Kush. After the transaction, anti-narcotics operatives immediately nabbed the duo who yielded four sachets of Kush weighing 112grams amounting to P168,000 and the buy-bust money. According to Villanueva, the siblings were supplying Kush to various drug peddlers in Metro Manila. Arrested suspects are now detained at Batasan Police Station while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against them. (Alexandria San Juan) Indian national arrested for molesting a woman in Valenzuela An Indian national was arrested by authorities after allegedly molesting a woman in Valenzuela City on Wednesday morning. The Valenzuela City Police identified him as Praveenkuamar Karunaneethi, 24, a 2nd-year medical student. Police said that Karunaneethi was caught molesting a certain Carla after they had a drinking spree at his home in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela at around 1 a.m. Investigation showed that the 20-year-old victim and her friend, a certain Maricar Gilmo, were asked to go to the suspect’s house after Karunaneethi met Carla through an online dating site. Gilmo reportedly went to the comfort room to pee while they were drinking, but when she was about to go out, she found out that she was locked. Police said that when Gilmo managed to break the lock, she immediately went to the suspect’s room where she found the suspect already molesting Carla. The victim reportedly felt dizzy after consuming a bottle of beer. Carla and Gilmo tried to escape but Karunaneethi allegedly locked them and threatened them to kill. Gilmo managed to contact her sister, who immediately sought assistance from anti-criminality barangay officers, leading to the suspect’s arrest. Police said that Karunaneethi might face charges for rape, slight illegal detention, and threat. (Joseph Almer Pedrajas) Tricycle driver arrested for creating trouble to bystanders in Pasig  A tricycle driver was apprehended by police for allegedly creating trouble to bystanders in Pasig City Wednesday night. Pasig City Police said they received a telephone call at around 9 p.m. regarding a man shouting and creating trouble to bystanders along E. Santos Street in Barangay Pinagbuhatan. Upon their arrival, the responding cops from Police Community Precinct 8 saw 38-year-old Allan Abuyen shouting scandalously along the said street, police said. The officers tried to pacify him but Abuyen became unruly and shouted at the policemen, prompting them to arrest him. When the officer frisked him, a sachet of suspected shabu was found on Abuyen’s possession, police said. He was brought to Pasig City Police where appropriate charges were filed against him. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas) Grab driver and son shot in Las Pinas A Grab driver and his son are now under observation after they were shot by a man after a heated argument in Las Piñas City on Wednesday. The victims were identified as Marlou Baisa, 53; and Justine Baisa, 24; both residents of Magnolia St., Doña Manuela Subdivision, Brgy. Pamplona 3, Las Piñas City. Both are recuperating from their injuries at the Perpetual Help Dalta Medical Center. Police are still on the lookout for the suspect identified as Akmad Abubakar, 38, resident of Doña Manuela Avenue, Doña Manuela Subdivision, Brgy. Pamplona 3, Las Piñas City. Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 3:45 in the afternoon along Doña Manuela Avenue, Doña Manuela Subdivision, Brgy. Pamplona 3, Las Piñas City. Police said that the two had a road argument involving the multi-purpose vehicle driven by Justine and the delivery tricycle of the suspect. During their brief altercation, the suspect pulled out a gun and started firing at the two before fleeing the scene to an unknown direction. The victims were immediately brought to the hospital where they are currently recovering while the suspect remains at large.  (Dhel Nazario) Woman arrested for extortion in QC A 22-year-old woman was arrested in Quezon City after allegedly extorting P30,000 from a 40-year-old American she met in a mobile dating app. Probers of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the suspect Jodelyn Parco, a resident of Manila, was nabbed in an entrapment operation in Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City on Tuesday. Prior to the arrest, complainant Devin Couser said Parco went to his condominium unit in Barangay Valencia, Quezon City last June 3 five days after they met through Tinder, an online dating app. According to Couser, Parco suddenly became unruly during her visit and even broke his television when the woman threw a bottle of cologne on it. This prompted Couser to report the incident to the establishment's security who immediately escorted the suspect and turned her over to barangay authorities. While at the Barangay Hall, Parco demanded P5,000 from Couser which he agreed to pay. However, when Couser went back to his unit, he started receiving text messages from Parco asking for P30,000 in exchange for his US passport which was taken by the suspect without his knowledge. Couser negotiated with Parco and reduced it to P20,000 which the suspect eventually agreed. Meanwhile, Couser sought help to personnel of Quezon City Police Station (PS-7) who set an entrapment operation against Parco at EDSA near corner Session Road in Cubao around 1 a.m. Tuesday. Upon receiving the marked money, responding officers immediately collared Parco and brought her to the police station where she is currently detained.
