The 86-strong 16th batch -- 64 men and 22 women of PDEA agents, took their oath of commitment indicating the commencement of their six-month comprehensive and regimented training on drug law enforcement.
PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino said the PDEA Academy under Officer-In-Charge Investigation Agent V Lirio T. Ilao will be responsible in transforming these individuals into principled, capable and trustworthy drug enforcement officers.
The training will be anchored on the established PDEA Core Values: Professional, Dynamic, Excellence-Driven and Accountable.
Members of DEOBC Class 2019-16 will undergo training modules namely, basic management and leadership, communication enhancement skills, community-based anti-Illegal drug advocacy, legal studies, anti-illegal drug intelligence, tactics, interdiction operations and investigation, and other non-academic activities.
“Experts will be invited to handle the specialized subjects throughout the course. Upon graduation, the new agents will be deployed to different Regional, District and Provincial Offices nationwide. They will be great addition to the force,” Aquino said.
In 2018, three batches of agent-trainees were hired and trained, producing 542 full-fledged drug enforcement officers in the process.
This is the largest recruitment of DEOs in the history of PDEA under the leadership of Director General Aquino.
On June 4, 2019, Aquino conferred to 106 new agents their PDEA badges during the ceremony held at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP). The new agents belong to DEOBC Batch 2018-14 “LIYAB-DIWA”.
The agent-trainees who are members of DEOBC Class 2019-15 are currently on their third month of training, and are scheduled to graduate on September 2019.
Recognizing the need to augment its limited manpower, PDEA embarked on an aggressive recruitment campaign program to entice brilliant and highly qualified professionals to serve as front liners in the ongoing war against illegal drugs.
A Drug Enforcement Officer has an entry level of Intelligence Officer 1 with Salary Grade 11.
