PUIs monitored in Davao Region

DAVAO CITY - From three patients under investigation (PUIs) last week, the Department of Health (DOH) 11 has now recorded six persons who were admitted in hospitals in Davao Region for observation on the possible 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
DOH 11 assistant regional director Dr. Lenny Joy J. Rivera, in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, said one of the six patients was already discharged the other day from isolation, while others are still doing good inside the facilities.

Rivera said these persons under investigation voluntarily submitted themselves to the isolation facilities in Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) here and Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
She said the six persons came from the places stated in the temporary ban such as mainland China, Hong-Kong and Macau and being exposed for 14 days in the said areas.
She said the facilities prefer not to provide further information, including where each patient were particularly admitted and what their nationalities are, to protect their identities.
Rivera said the PUIs experienced mild flu-like symptoms, fever and cough when they came in for confinement.
“Yung iba medyo better na, yung iba hindi na nagka-fever (Others are now getting better, some of them had no fever anymore),” he said.
Rivera said they are waiting now for the results of these patients after the samples got from these people were already submitted to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
She also appealed to the people who just came from the said places to submit themselves to the two hospitals especially if they already feel the symptoms.
Rivera reiterated that there was still no case of nCoV here in the region.
The official is continuously asking the people to be prepared in preventing the spread of the virus by boosting their immune system, proper hand washing, hygiene and responsible coughing.
