ATIMONAN, Quezon - Three people on board a van that collided with the passenger jeepney died while six were wounded early midnight on Thursday at Barangay Balubad, in this town.
Police reports identified the victims as Luisito Sarte, 52, van driver; Segundina Llamado, and Menilla Llovido, 55, all residents of Pamplona, Camarines Sur.
At about 11:35 p.m., the passenger jeepney with plate PYL 227 driven by suspect Edwin Martinez, a resident of Brgy. Buhangin, was traversing towards the direction of Bicol when it swerved on the opposite lane to avoid hitting the rear portion of an Isuzu mixer truck. But the Nissan Urvan with plate VBV 332 driven by Sarte that was cruising in the opposite lane crashed head-on collision with the jeepney. Police reported that the mixer truck has also figured in an earlier vehicular incident.
Those who were wounded were Lizza Manastao Llamado, 30, Celebrada Montayas, Joseline Bengua, 40, Salvacion Pasagi, 58, Cara Alcibor, 29, and Victoria Delos Santos, 58, all residents of Pasacoa Camarines Sur. They were brought by Atimonan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) to the Doña Martha Memorial District Hospital for treatment.
