A report said that actor Edu Manzano and broadcast journalist Pinky Webb split up a few days after he declared his intention to run for vice president under the Lakas-Kampi Christian Muslim Democrats ticket.

According to entertainment columnist Ricky Lo, who cited a source named “Juicy Corner” in writing the item in his column published Nov. 19, the breakup had nothing to do with Manzano's decision to run as vice president nor was it due to a “third party.”

“Very private ang dahilan,” Lo quoted the source as saying.

Early on, Manzano hinted of a wedding in the offing, admitting that he and Webb had been planning to tie the knot within the year.

"It will not be a big wedding, not a showbiz wedding. Marami pa kasing dapat pag-isipan pa doon. We have been together for…magfa-five years na kami on October 19. It's a very serious relationship," said he.

He rebuffed speculation that the marriage was meant to boost his chances in the 2010 polls.

"Relationship should not be used to further someone's ambitions. That's my opinion."

Only a few days ago, Manzano surprised everyone, apparently Webb as well, when he decided to accept Lakas-Kampi-CMD’s offer to be Gilbert Teodoro’s running mate.

"I think it came as a shock to her, too," Manzano admitted. He, however, added that Webb is supporting his decision.

On a related note, Luis Manzano has come out to declare that his father had kept him in the dark regarding his political plans.

He divulged that he learned about his father’s VP bid through friends.

Nonetheless, he assured that his father has his support.

"I know how much of a good man my dad is and I know his intentions. So, I will definitely support him," the younger Manzano said.
