Illegal drugs worth P170K seized by cops from 2 notorious peddlers Illegal drugs worth P170,000 were seized by the police from two alleged notorious drug peddlers during a drug sting in Quezon City, Monday afternoon. Quezon City Police District Director, Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr., identified the arrested suspects as Alexander Macapato, 34, and Cosin Salic, 41, both residents of Barangay Batasan Hills. Operatives of QCPD Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation against the two who were known drug peddlers in their area, police said. An undercover operative set a deal with the suspects and purchased P30,000 worth of shabu. The agent met with the suspects inside a room of an apartelle on Congressional Avenue in Barangay North Fairview at around 4 p.m. Upon consuming the deal, responding operatives rushed inside the apartelle and immediately collared the suspects. Seized from the suspects were 25 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P170,000, two mobile phones which police said were used by the duo in different drug transactions, a sling bag, some drug paraphernalia and the marked money. The arrested suspects are now under police custody and were charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Willyboy Almendrala, 26, and a resident of 1218, Meding Street in Malate, Manila, fell into the hands of authorities at 10:45 p.m. yesterday. The suspect had been on the lookout for a robbery case. Philip Ferrer, 41, married, helper of Barangay Balong Bato, San Juan City was arrested by authorities around 2:45p.m. in a construction site on N. Domingo St., Barangay Pedro Cruz, San Juan City. Police made the arrest after Judge Juvencio Gascon of San Juan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 68 issued an arrest warrant against the suspect for the violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002. The suspect was allegedly hiding from authorities for three years. According to police report, Ferrer resisted the arresting officers who allegedly run in an attempt to escape but the authorities managed to corner him at the said area and arrested him immediately. Police report also showed that the suspect was already detained in February 2008 for an alleged illegal drug use according to court records. According to San Juan City Police Chief Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes, the suspect posted bail and has been transferring from one place to another. But several months ago, they received an information that Ferrer went back to his residence and worked as a construction helper. The suspect is now detained at the San Juan City police detention cell. (Hanah Tabios) Wife stabs husband to death during altercation over financial issues Police are now hunting a woman who allegedly stabbed to death his husband of 16 years during their altercation over financial issues in Quezon City early Tuesday. Supt Tomas Nuñez, chief of Quezon City Police District-Galas Police Station (PS-11), said Marynor Tomas, who was in her 40s, was tagged as the suspect behind the killing of her husband they identified as Rannie Tomas, 47. It appears that the victim's sister, Imelda Miranda, was living with the couple on Ruby Street in Barangay Tatalon. According to Miranda, she was sleeping inside the house at around 1:40 a.m. when she was awakened by an altercation between the two. Initial investigation showed that Rannie was asking P200 from his wife for his fare going to Montalban, Rizal for his work as an auto mechanic, resulting in a commotion. The couple allegedly got into a fistfight. Minutes later, irked Marynor got hold of a kitchen knife and stabbed Tomas on his right chest. Upon seeing his husband's bloodied body fell on the floor, Marynor immediately fled the scene and escaped. Meanwhile, the victim's mother and sister rushed to the scene and sought help from barangay authorities who brought Tomas to nearby Delos Santos Hospital where he eventually died while undergoing treatment. Attending physician noted a lone stab wound on the victim's right chest caused his death. Police were able to recover on the crime scene the kitchen knife measuring at least 10 inches long including the blue and white handle apparently used by the suspect. The victim's family claimed that the couple always had a fight over money matters. PO3 Jay Segui, PS-11 investigator, also said Marynor had a history of hurting a relative whom she nearly stabbed with a knife. Further investigation is now underway while a manhunt is on against Marynor. (Alexandria San Juan) 10 people arrested in Marikina buy-bust ops Ten people including a minor and a Marikina traffic enforcer were apprehended by authorities in a buy-bust operation in Marikina City Monday evening. The suspects were identified as Israel “Totie” Moyano, 65, male, shoemaker; Bernie “Bernie” Mergillano, 36, male, jobless; Bernardo “Batac” Mergillano Jr., 24, male, jobless; Jessie Gamino, 39, male, tricycle driver; George Lucban, 44, male, Office of the Public Safety and Security (OPSS) traffic enforcer; Larry Lagayan, 37, male, tricycle driver; Conrado Gamino, 41, male, tricycle driver; Jayson Tolentino, male, 24, tricycle driver, Lea Gamino, 34, femaile, housewife; and a 17-year-old minor. The said suspects were residents of Barangay Malanday, Marikina City. According to police report, confidential informants appeared to Marikina City Police Station around 2 p.m. Monday and reported the alleged illegal drug activities of “Totie” Moyano and siblings “Bernie” and “Batac” Mergillano who were also allegedly peddling shabu at No. 24, Minahan Main St., Barangay Malanday, Marikina City. Chief Station Drug Enforcement Unity Police Insp. Greco Gonzales then validated the information and ordered a buy-bust operation against the suspects. Around 9:03p.m., authorities went to the area to conduct the operation. Moyano, “Bernie” Mergillano, “Batac” Mergillano, and the minor were arrested for allegedly peddling and possessing one sachet of suspected shabu individually. The rest were caught coincidentally while having a pot session inside the place. Police recovered a total of nine sachets of suspected “shabu”, one coin purse, a P500 peso bill recovered buy-bust money, one piece aluminum foil strip, one piece rolled aluminum foil used as an improvised tooter, and one disposable lighter with rolled aluminum foil as an improvised burner.
