There’s nothing to worry about Manny Pacquiao’s right ear.

“It was infected before the bout from his headgear,” said Pacquiao buddy former Ilocos Gov. Chavit Singson during a GMA 7 TV interview on Friday.

He said it’s healing well and the fighter should be OK in a week or so.

Blood had to be drained from the infection after the fight and that was why there was a bandage over it when he appeared in a post-fight interview.

Pacquiao also showed up with a thick bandage in his right hand, which he said was bone contusion resulting from punching Miguel Cotto.

“Malakas din sya,” said Pacquiao of Cotto.

His mom Dionisia reiterated her desire to have Manny hang up his gloves.

“Kawawa naman siya,” said the Pacmom

She noted that her son was “bugbog sarado” and suffered so much from the fight.

Pacquiao said she heard his mom’s appeal and is thinking about it like any good son should.

“Dapat makinig tayo sa magulang,” he said. But he left the issue hanging.

Pacmom said she was surprised that she has also become a celebrity in her own right and her popularity followed her in the US where many Filipinos greeted her warmly.

“Sikat din pala ako dun,” said the once simple housewife whose celebrity status earned her TVand radio commercials.

There’s evenan album of songs being planned by a record company. Egged on by the TV interviewer, Mrs. D delivered a few lines. Hearing her, Regine and country’s other top vocalists need not fear. Their jobs are secured.

There was pandemonium everywhere Pacquiao went.

Even the Quiapo Church became a scene of wild jubilation as thousands packed the church as people crammed the place to get a glimpse of the boxing hero. He was treated like God and he spoke to them at the front expressing  his thanks for their prayers and support.

At the New World Hotel in Makati where he proceeded from the airport, Pacquiao was greeted with confetti and balloons and by beautiful girls wearing outfits seen only on Las Vegas showgirls.

The meal was heavy – rice, and all kinds of meat, poultry and seafood – and media could not help but intrude even in this supposedly private activity.

One TV reporter tried to get a word from Pacquiao even while he was eating and the champion courteously declined.

It was while having breakfast that Pacquiao saw his fight on video for the first time and was surprised, according to Chavit, that it was his right hand that decked Cotto in the fourth round.
