SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Some 6,000 metric tons or 120,000 sacks of imported rice worth P192 million are being unloaded at the Poro Point since Monday, September 3.

The rice shipment, the third batch to arrive, is part of the total 560,000 sacks or 28,000 metric tons allocated for the Ilocos region.
The first shipment of 280,000 sacks arrived from Thailand via M/V Gazi, while the second shipment of 160,000 sacks, also from Thailand arrived via M/V Ocean Glory.
The rice will be distributed in the provinces of La Union, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and in the province of Abra in the Cordillera region.
