Though each year the much-awaited MYX MO event is generally regarded as a big rock festival, MYX Channel movers and participating artists for this year’s presentation emphasize that the live spectacle is a showcase of various genres from a wide array of artists playing different brands of music.

Asia's Pop Idol Christian Bautista (who is known for his ballads) admitted there’s always a kind of pressure he feels when performing next after a band, considering that one would have to deal with a crowd still high on energy emanated from a rock repertoire. But as he has witnessed through the past years or since the annual event began in 2002, the audience was usually aware that the list of performers would include artists not into rock.

“May kaba lagi ako to go after a band. But I like the audience of MYX MO kasi they’re appreciative to all kinds of music,” said the popular balladeer recognized for having acquired fans from our Asian neighbors.

Over 50 music acts from diverse fields like rock, pop, hip-hop and other music types are enlisted to perform this Thursday night, Nov. 26 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. During the recent presscon held at Max’s Roces, Bautista led a group of famous band frontmen in showing excitement about performing in the live music marathon eventually to be shown repeatedly over MYX.

The latest edition of what is arguably the most anticipated annual gathering of Pinoy musicians found the impact of the recent destructive typhoons that hit our country a path to good purpose, having chosen “Bangon, Republic of MYX!” as its shout out. The event hopes to empower the Filipino resolve in the aftermath of natural disasters Ondoy and Pepeng as well as lead the youth in making sensible picks in the national elections next year.

“Very positive ang theme this year and timing na may nangyaring calamities just before MYX MO. Looking at the positive side of it, siguradong masaya ’to at maraming mabibigyan ng lakas ng loob sa concert,” chorused 6cyclemind’s Ney Dimaculangan and Tutti Caringal as their group was scheduled (that Monday) to tweak their recording of radio-bound track “Kung Wala Na Nga.” Their version of Regine Velasquez’s “Dadalhin” was incidentally singled as carrier track of a hits compilation gathered by 101.9 for Life FM station.

Other mainstream rock figures present during the press launch included Yael Yuzon of Sponge Cola, Jeff Bolivar of Soapdish, Chris Padilla of Hilera, and Kean Cipriano of Callalily.

MYX Channel head Allan Andre Alvarez noted that the artists list comprises of acts whose music videos are being shown on MYX (Sky Cable Channel 23). A pre-show presentation will give less known but deserving artists the chance to showcase their stuff in such big stage. Of course, the bigger names expected by fans are to come in the main salvo.

With ‘strictly no ticket no entry’policy in effect, fans are advised to get free concert tickets at ABS-CBN Center Road Gate this Nov. 23-25.
