The DVDs and CDs were stored in the DCPO barracks for later transport to Manila for disposal after police gathered the evidence in 443 sacks of pirated goods.
The items were confiscated by virtue of Republic Act 9239 or the Optical Media Act of 2003.
The joint task force comprising police from the DCPO, the OMB, among others, conducted a citywide inspection of stalls throughout Davao City from Police Stations 1 to 10.
Earlier in the day, the OMB signed a memorandum of agreement deputizing police to confiscate the illegally recorded items.
Authorities described the haul of sacks of movie and soundtrack DVDs that were in violation of the Optical Media Act.
“Said confiscated items are now temporarily held at the Davao City Police Office pending their subsequent turn-over to the OMB via Container Vans for its delivery to their Main Office in Manila,” the DCPO said in a statement Thursday night.
The MOA was signed between the OMB, represented by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Atty. Anselmo Adriano and the DCPO, headed City Director, Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum.
