Infra damage from TD 'Vicky' reaches P110.4 M

Damage to infrastructure from tropical depression “Vicky” has reached P110.4 million and 14 road sections remain impassable as of Monday, the Department of Public Works and Highways said.

Eastern Visayas is the most damaged region, sustaining P96.4-million damage to infrastructure, followed by Bicol region which had P5-million damage to roads and bridges.

Fourteen road sections in Luzon and Visayas remain impassable Monday due to landslides, mudflow, flooding, fallen trees, and damaged roads and bridges.

Two sections of the Kiangan-Tinoc-Buguias Road in Ap-apid and in Binablayan, Tinoc, Ifugao, and the Banaue-Mayoyao-Alfonso Lista-Isabela Boundary Road in Barangay Mongol, Mayoyao remain impassable due to soil collapse and landslide.

In Region 2, affected sections are the Itawes Bridge on the Cagayan-Apayao Road; Divisoria Bridge on Cagayan Valley Road in Namabalan Sur, Tuguegarao City; Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge in Cabagan, Sta. Maria; and the San Pedro Overflow Bridge on NRJ-Villa Sur-San Pedro-Cabuaan-Ysmael- Disimungal Road in Maddela, Quirino.

Closed roads in Region 3 include the Camatis Section of the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road and Baler-Casiguran Road, Abuttment A in Aurora.

Impassable roads in Region 5 are a section of the Catanduanes Circumferential Road in Barangay Sagrada, Bagamano, Catanduanes; Baras‐Gigmoto‐Viga Road in Barangau Ogbong, Viga, Catanduanes; and a section of the Junction Panganiban‐Sabloyon Road in Barangay San Miguel in Panganiban, Catanduanes.

Three road sections in Region 8 were also closed, including the Layog Bridge on Daang Maharlika; a section of the Tacloban-Baybay South Road in Barangay Liberasion, Mahaplag, Leyte; and the Panalian Bridge in Silago-Abuyog Road.

Nine road sections have cleared of obstructions caused by Vicky in some areas in the country.
