Some 10,000 people are expected to gather at the Our Lady of Pillar Parish-Imus Cathedral tomorrow to witness the opening ceremonies for the Asian Youth Day (AYD) celebration.

The Diocese of Imus (Cavite) is the host of the weeklong event that will be attended by some 1,600 youth leaders and clergies from Asian countries. Imus Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi has declared Monday as a special day in the town.

Father Conrad Amon, head of the AYD Media and Promotion Team, said the foreign participants will arrive at the Cathedral at 3 p.m.

Held once every three years, the AYD is the Asian version of World Youth Day. It will be the first time that the Philippines will be hosting the event in 10 years.
