The Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 32 gave the prosecution 10 days to file a comment regarding the motion for reconsideration filed by National Democratic Front (NDF) consultant Vic Ladlad’s in relation to the bench warrant of arrest issued by Judge Thelma Bunyi-Medina for his multiple murder case.

Ladlad, a member of Communist Party of the Philippines Central Committee and head of the National United Front Commission, was one of the consultants who were jailed for the supposed murder of 15 members of New People’s Army (NPA) in an alleged bid to purge their own ranks of military informers. He was released in 2016 to participate in peace negotiations.
According to Atty. Chel Diokno, legal counsel of Ladlad, it is impossible for Ladlad to become part o the incident because they had a lot of witness accounts to prove that he was still in prison in Lucena City at Camp Nakar where he was detained from 1983 to 1986 when the mass killing happened in Leyte.
Ladlad was arrested early Thursday morning in his alleged “safe house” in Novaliches, Quezon City after several high-powered rifles, pistols, ammunition, and grenades found in the possession of Ladlad and his companions.
Fides Lim, wife of Ladlad and Atty. Carlos Montemayor Jr. who were present during the hearing in Manila insisted that the guns and ammunition seized from Ladlad were “planted.”
According to Fides, the firearms were already planted in their house in Quezon City before the barangay officials arrive. However, she admitted that she did not personally see what happened.
Meanwhile, she also said all the allegations against his husband is a form of “political persecution.”
A few months ago, another NDF consultant Rafael Baylosis was also arrested in Quezon City for alleged illegal possession of firearm.
