Matignas

SGV & Co. Advisory partner and Ernst & Young Far East Area Advisory Quality & Risk Management Leader Leonardo J. Matignas Jr. was elected President of the Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Audotors (ACIIA) in its Annual General Meeting held on 18 October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The first Filipino elected to the post, Mr. Matignas immediately hit the ground running by facilitating the ACIIA Leadership workshop, chairing the business meeting and leading the ACIIA Conference, held from 19-20 October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, which was attended by more than 800 internal auditors from all over Asia.

ACIIA’s vision is to be the regional voice of the internal auditing profession by advocating its values, promoting best practices and providing exceptional service to its members.

Prior to the ACIIA presidency, Mr. Matignas also served as president of the Institute of Internal Auditors-Philippines in 2007, where he was at the forefront of development programs for Filipino internal audit executives and their involvement in local and international conferences. As an SGV partner, he started two services in the Firm, namely Business Risk Services and fraud Investigation and Dispute Services.

Aside from being a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor, Mr. Matignas is also a Certified Fraud Examiner specializing in forensic accounting. He is one of the founding members and a past president of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners-Philippine Chapter.
