A retired police officer was killed over the weekend after three gunmen shot him moments after coming out from a cockpit arena in Malabon City.

Police said the victim, retired SPO2 Delson Ferry, 58, of Phase 3C, Kaunlaran Village, Caloocan City, sustained gunshot wounds in the abdomen and died while being treated the Manila Central University Hospital.

Initial report showed that the retired police officer and his son were onboard a tricycle from Del Monte cockpit arena when the suspects blocked their path along Araneta Avenue.

One of the suspects forced the retired lawman to alight from the tricycle and then shot him without any provocation.

The suspects then took the bag of the victim reportedly containing an undetermined amount of cash and sped away from the crime scene.

Police said they are still digging deeper to determine if the incident was plain robbery or a case of premeditated killing.
