An inmate who escaped after fire hit the Antipolo City Jail on Thursday is now back behind bars.
P/Supt. Mirasol Vetor, warden of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), identified the escapee-surrenderee as Zymon Dig y Guevarra who is facing charges of robbery cases and for violating Presidential Decree 9.
Police report showed the fire caused by electrical faulty wiring on Thursday and paved the way for Dig to escape from their detention cell.
It can be recalled that a fire hit the Antipolo City Jail around 8:41 p.m. in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City.
Inmate, Organo Cesar y Fortaliza, died in the fire incident.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire started inside one of the detention cells. A second alarm was raised but the fire was placed under control after about 30 minutes.
Out of 1,669 inmates with different cases, 24 were injured and were all brought to the hospital for treatment according to the local government.
