Wendy-Bruce marriage: Kept it secret, calling it quits
Wendy Valdez has revealed the reason she kept her marriage to Bruce Quebral on March 10, 2009 in Mabalacat, Pampanga a secret from their families and the public.
The sexy star added that her mother, Aurea Valdez, did not approve of her getting married.
Aurea was hurt upon accidentally learning about the marriage.
She and Bruce thought that getting married would help cement their relationship after he decided to work in Dubai as a flight attendant.
“Hindi kami nagkikita. Almost every night nag-uusap kami, nag-iiyakan kami. Hirap na hirap kami. Wala kaming makitang paraan kung paano kami magkikita.
“The only way is magpakasal kami para makakapunta ako dun [Dubai] back and forth,” she narrated.
But then she realized that married life is no fairy tale.
Isa-isa nang nagdatingan ‘yung mga problema,” she said.
They tried to save their relationship by holding on to love.
“Pumunta pa ko ng Dubai for a week. Sobrang hirap. Gusto naming i-work out. Ni-try namin pero we [still] drifted apart,” she recalled.
Wendy cited financial problems as one of their bigger challenges.
“Dumating ako sa point na love conquers all pero marami palang hindi kaya… gaya ng mga financial [problems],” she revealed.
The two who met and fell in love while inside the “Pinoy Big Brother” house, are now in talks of annulling their short-lived marriage.
“Nag-usap kami na mag-move on separately. Pinag-uusapan pa namin,” said she.
Wendy admitted she is the one to blame in all of these.
“It’s my fault.. First time naming nag-Boracay na lagi akong nakatulala, kasi feeling ko hindi pa ko ready at hindi pa ko mature [para magpakasal].”
She cleared that her “Bud Brothers” co-star Will Devaughn did not cause the breakup.
Sa’ming dalawa ‘to ni Bruce,” said Wendy..
The actress hopes that young couples will learn from what she and Bruce went through.
She said that Bruce “will always be in my heart. I will always remember you.”
“And maybe kung magiging masaya kami sa mga sarili namin [ay maging] kami [pala] talaga para sa isa’t-isa [in the end].”
