'Pantawid Pasada' discount covers 740 Petron stations

The “Pantawid Pasada” discount cards recently distributed by relevant government agencies are now accepted in 740 gasoline stations nationwide of leading oil industry player Petron Corporation.

The oil firm said it had chosen the core of its retail networks that have the highest volume of traffic for public utility vehicles. Petron’s retail portfolio comprises of 2,400 gasoline stations all over the country; hence, those with Pantawid Pasada discounts accounted for more than a third of that.
The company, in a statement to the media, noted that these stations are visibly marked with “Pantawid Pasada Program” signages – and are located along high traffic routes.
The Pantawid Pasada program is a form of financial assistance to the public transport sector spearheaded by the Departments of Energy and Transportation.
This is part of the subsidy scheme for the marginalized sector as a measure integrated in the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.
On availment of the oil price discounts, Petron apprised public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers that they would just need to “present their cards to any service station attendant for proper identification and validation before fueling up with diesel.”
And as the company reinforces its leading position in the industry, Petron President and CEO Ramon S. Ang asserted that “we fully support the government’s move to provide this needed relief in diesel prices to public utility jeepneys and the riding public.”
The grant of discounts to PUJs had been fundamentally intended to dissuade public transport operators and drivers to seek transport fare hikes, following the oil price increases triggered by the tax reform policy of the Duterte administration.
On top of the Pantawid Pasada discount sheme, the oil firm noted that the drivers can still use their Petron Super Driver Card (SDC) “to earn special bonus points, discounts with merchant partners and instant cash back in terms of peso points for every purchase of fuels, lubricants and Gasul,” at its service stations.
The SDC marketing spectacle can be availed of by drivers in Petron stations all over the country, according to the company.
Petron said SDC cardholders are entitled to free round-the-clock towing and roadside assistance; P10,000 personal accident insurance; and P1,000 medical reimbursement.
The oil firm noted that the SDC cards, which can be utilized at 2,100 Petron stations, are now used by over 500,000 motorists nationwide.
