Air drop operations distribute food packs to 440 families isolated on rooftops

CAGAYAN – An estimated 440 families were given food packs during the relief operations conducted by the Cagayan provincial government on Saturday and Sunday, according to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Helen Donato.

According to her report with the Cagayan Information Office, the beneficiaries of food packs were families, which were isolated and remained on rooftops, could not be reached except with the use of aircraft.

Aerial drop operations on Saturday and Sunday were conducted in the towns of Iguig, Amulung, Alcala, Gattaran, Enrile, and Solana.

Provincial employees were assisted by the 505th Search and Rescue Group and the 205th Helicopter Wing of the Philippine Air Force (PAF). 

The provincial government, Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) also conducted an aerial survey on Saturday through Provincial Administrator Darwin Sacramed and OCD Regional Director Harold Cabreros. 

They were able to identify isolated households in different towns.  Air drop operations were spearheaded by the PAF to distribute the relief packs. 

Meanwhile, other aerial relief and rescue operations to reach isolated households  continued until Sunday, November 15.
