Commercial and fashion model-turned-actress Abby Cruz is healed from the demise of her two-year relationship with “Survivor Philippines” host Paolo Bediones. With no regrets whatsoever, she has picked herself up and her life’s thrust now is to continue her showbiz career and unfold a new Abby Cruz in the process!

“I’ve moved on and moved forward. I’m happy and it’s a new season in my life. And it’s time to show a new Abby,” she said enthusiastically.

She intimated that even before Paolo left for Palau to tape the second season of “Survivor Philippines,” they have been having fights for a long time already that they decided to take a break. Efforts from the both of them to patch things up didn’t succeed until they finally separated because of their unresolved differences.

She said that it was just natural for people in a romantic relationship to discover individual nuances and traits that are hard to understand. And that having time for each other has become an important factor in a relationship and Paolo was then very busy with his career!

“Of course I cried and I was depressed. For a few months I was crying. I was so down and sad. I prayed to God and told Him that if it was His will for us to split then let His will be done. I had my faith in Him and I know kapag binitawan ko ang relationship di Niya ako pababayaan and true enough kasi now I’m back, up and about and I’m okay. I feel good and I’m all healed plus sunod-sunod ang work,” she exclaimed.

Other doors of oppurtinity presented themselves to Abby, a former contract artist of GMA Artist Center. She landed an acting gig with ABS-CBN’s primetime soap opera “Lovers in Paris” that stars Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion. And she is in two soon to be released indie films.

“‘Lovers in Paris’ was a blessing to me. When I auditioned, I didn’t know that the role I auditioned for was the role of Assunta de Rosi. Because nagustuhan ako ng director, they gave me a support role to Assunta. I was thankful kasi pwedeng wag na nila akong ilagay,” explained Abby.

With regards to her indie films, she’s with Roi Vinzon in “Cordillera” and in “Tanglaw” which is her launching movie.

“I’m a teacher to underprivileged students and then nag-Hong Kong ako para mag-domestic helper kasi gusto ko sila mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan,” described Abby of her role in “Tanglaw.”

So was she able to relate to her role as a teacher?

“First of all I like kids and I like teaching pero mahirap yung ginawa ng teacher na yun. She went to small barrios to teach kids. The school is super hirap and tumutulo yung mga roofs pag malakas ulan. She also goes to her sick students to teach them,” she replied.

At the moment Abby’s really geared to be an actress especially with the movies and TV show that were given her. Aside from entertaining people and making them happy through her acting projects, she wants to be known as a serious and versatile actress.

“Nandyan pa rin ang modeling kasi first love ko and hosting on the side... in showbiz I want to save up for a family business. Eventually gusto ko rin magturo ng personality development kasi kailangan nila ng mga role models. Gusto ko maging ganun. I’m not in showbiz to waste my time. I’m 25 and I want to be a good example to the younger generation. And that’s the reason God placed me here. I want to make a difference. I want to put a dent on people’s lives,” stressed Abby.

One of her goals is to go back to school. She plans to enroll at the Open University of the University of the Philippines and finish an associate degree on Consular Diplomatic Affairs.

For Abby, life has been more exciting after all the heartaches she has gone through. And she hopes that people would appreciate her goal of becoming more serious and focused as an actress. That said, she is determined to succeed and that’s why the new Abby Cruz is an actress ON THE RISE!
