Tropical depression Urduja dissipates

All storm signals were lifted in the northeastern part of Mindanao after tropical depression "Urduja" dissipated, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Thursday.

PAGASA said that Urduja has weakened into a low-pressure area (LPA) near Surigao City at 2 p.m. Thursday.

In its final update issued at 5 p.m. Thursday, PAGASA spotted the center of the LPA in the Philippine Sea at about 350 kilometers east of Surigao City, which continued to move eastward away from the country at 11 kph.

PAGASA said that Urduja will bring winds with surge of 30 to 60 kph over the Northern Mindanao this Thursday.

A ridge of high pressure area, which is another weather system associated with good weather near Palawan, has influenced the weather disturbance to change its direction instead of passing through the country.

PAGASA also said that Northern Mindanao provinces will still experience rains with occasional gusty winds. (Rio Rose Ribaya)
