From the Backseat
A monster Manila Auto Salon weekend
Since my favorite youngest son was weaned from diapers, he’d been spending weekends of adventures with my favorite roommate.
They’d go on adventures – that’s what Liam calls his Saturday sorties with his mom – to the mall, mainly to the Dave’s Funhouse at Alabang Town Center.
Dad gets to join them on Sundays for drives to wherever fancy, budget, or the occasional weekend test drive units take us.
It’s been tough thinking of places to go for new adventures that would interest near three-year-old and still interest a five-decade-old father.
So we’re glad there’s the 2009 Manila Auto Salon this weekend.
That would just be perfect for our two-fisted tyke. He likes cars – preferably red – ever since the movie Pixars’ movie "Cars."
He’ll be sure to enjoy going to the SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia this Sunday. He knows the way there from our place by now from past adventures with his mom.
There’ll be something new to see at the convention center with the Manila Auto Salon which started last Thursday and will end on Sunday.
Manila Auto Salon is the biggest trade event of its kind, comprising the 14th Custom Car Show, 14th Sport Truck Show and the 3rd Mobile Electronics and Technology Show.
We know our Liam will be excited by displays of customs cars and custom trucks. We’re hoping there’ll be vehicle displays that look like those on monster truck games on the Internet.
Believe it or else, our little monster already knows how to use the track pad on the Macbook to click on the bookmark to an Internet monster truck game, one of his favorite sites.
We really don’t know how we’ll manage to keep our son in check. It’s tough chasing a three year old when you’ve got arthritic knees.
We fear the mom and yaya will surely have a tough time stopping our Liam from getting into the displays of model cars at the die-cast car exhibition.
Again, believe it or else, he has destroyed his father’s collection of model cars, most of them giveaways – cheap and expensive – from a decade and a half long career of attending vehicle launches and other motoring events.
