Q Channel 11 is geared up to tickle the funny bones of its viewers on Dec. 4 when it premieres “Drop Dead Diva.”

“Drop Dead Diva’ is about a wannabe model Deb Dobson who died in a car accident. Being declared a self-centered “zero” at heaven’s gate, she fumingly wished that she be brought back to her “diva-ish” life. Unfortunately, with God’s sense of humor, she was brought back to life inside a dead and obese woman lawyer Jane Bignum. Her task was to live her life inside Jane and see the beauty in the life of a Size 16.

Playing Jane’s legal assistant is Terrie Lee played by comedian Margaret Cho. She helps her with her problems at the office while she tries to discover what’s behind Jane’s “weird” behavior.

According to Margaret, “Drop Dead Diva” is a show that tackles role-reversal of a gorgeous aspiring model reincarnated into a successful yet insecure lawyer. And such situation makes it a funny show to watch. Moreover its appeal to young women viewers springs from the “real perspective” of a young and beautiful and interesting person played by Brooke Elliot as Jane Bignum and Deb Dobson. And for her the main character is charismatic, different and unique all throughout the show.

As for her role, Margaret described it to be “necessary” in Jane’s life. And she loves that her character is very supportive and loving and who has this feminist ideal that women can do it together!

She added that she accepted her role because of the story and that she found the creator, Josh Berman, to be a great, wonderful and fun person. She also fell in love with her role which she felt perfect for her to play.

Below Margaret tells more about “Drop Dead Diva” and sheds more light about her role.

Q: What for you are the highlights in “Drop Dead Diva” Season One?
A: I just love being a part of this cast and I just love getting to know everyone and living together. That was just really great… I’ve gotten a lot of friends there. I love the experience and that was really fun. There’s just so much grace and beauty parts so she’s just phenomenal.

Q: Are there any pressure living up to the expectations of viewers or your fans?
A: Well I just hope I’m just doing a good job. I just want to do well. And I feel that the part is just easy to me because it’s written and it’s very for me so I like that. And I have fun doing it.

Q: You do a lot of things, from being a comedian to being a writer. So what do you really want to do?
A: I really love doing stand-up comedy. And I love touring in my capacity as a comic. And that is really the basic, glorious thing of what I do so I really love it.

Q: How would you define the phrase “drop dead diva?”
A: I think it is somebody who is just living to his full potential. Because we only have one life and so we can drop dead in any second and we have to live life completely, fully and beautifully.

Q: How is it working with the cast and crew of “Drop Dead Diva?”
A: They are wonderful and they are so talented. They are brilliant and beautiful and charming and a joy to hang out with. They’re a lot of fun. I love them all.

Q: How different is this show from your stand-up comedy stints?
A: It feels very different. It feels very much like a different kind of the job like the structure or the way it pace. The place I live in is different. I have to live in a different city or the show and it’s a different life all together.

Q: Who are some of the stars to watch out for in “Drop Dead Diva” Season One?
A: I love Brooke Elliot of course. She is the main star of the show. As Jane Bignum she is just spectacular and she is a fantastic actress.

Q: What can we expect from “Drop Dead Gorgeous” Season Two?
A: I don’t know yet. I hope we see a lot of different stuff and that we discover more about the different characters. We still don’t know because we haven’t started yet and none of the actors are aware of what’s going to happen. It would be great though.

Q: So what can your fans expect from you in the coming months?
A: I’m starting the show again in March next year. And I’ll be recording an album of music and comedy songs. And I’m touring with that after I do “Drop Dead Diva” Season Two next year.
