John Mayer returns to the top of the album charts with his new album “Battle Studies” after his “Heavier Things” CD ruled six years ago in September 2003.

Among the songs in Mayer’s album, his duet with chart titan Taylor Swift is, unsurprisingly, the most downloaded track from Mayer’s "Battle Studies" so far. Their “Half Of My Heart” places at number 25 on the singles chart and is at number twelve in the Digital songs chart.

In the Hot 100, Jay-Z still has a firm hold on the number one spot with “Empire State Of Mind.” The song, which features Alicia Keys, is on its second week reign.

Lady Gaga meanwhile jumps from number 11 to number two with her new digital single “Bad Romance” making it this week’s biggest chart gainer. Lady Gaga may have lost to Jay Z for this week's top spot but she wins the plum at Digital charts by being the most downloaded single this week.

Owl City slides down from two to number three with “Fireflies.” Jason Derulo’s “Whatcha Say” does the same by going down a notch to number four.

Ke$ha is another chart gainer by making the jump from number 10 to number five with “Tik Tok.”

Iyaz’s “Replay” loses some ground and drops down two notches to number six, while French DJ David Gueta makes his first Top 10 singles chart appearance with “Sexy Chick” which leaps from number 12 to seven.

Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” still has a bit of steam in it by moving up a step to number eight while Britney’s “3” moves down from six to number nine.

Closing this week’s singles chart is Jay Sean who goes “Down” three notches to number 10.

In the UK charts, the 2009 X-Factor finalists top the singles chart with a cover of Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone,” while Leona Lewis, another X-Factor alumni, has the number one album in Britain with her new album “Echo.”
