Food poisoning downs 6 detainees in Angeles City jail

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – At least six persons under the custody of Police Station 3 of the Angeles City Police Officer (ACPO) were rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, January 19, complaining of severe abdominal pain and diarrhea after allegedly partaking of a spoiled chicken meal.

A report from the office of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) Director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon said the detainees had lunch together, sharing a chicken meal that was sent by one of their visitors.

ACPO Chief Col. Rommel S. Batangan said the inmates, who were already vomiting and experiencing stomach trouble, were immediately taken to the Ospital ng Angeles, where they were diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.

After being given medicines, the six detainees were brought back to the custodial facility.
