Makati vice mayor bolts Binay’s party
Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado has indeed left Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay’s PDP-Laban slate for next year’s election in the financial district after he swore alliance with Senator Manuel “Manny” Villar’s Nacionalista Party recently.
Mercado was earlier rumored to be running with Erwin Genuino, son of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chairman Efrain Genuino, but with his recent oath-aking as NP’s mayoralty bet for Makati City, Mercado has confirmed his tandem with lawyer Chito Salud.
Meanwhile, Louie Locsin, wife of Makati Rep. Teddy Boy Locsin and incumbent Councilor Ernesto Aspillaga are eyeing the congressional seats of Makati’s first and second districts, respectively.
The Manila Bulletin called Mercado and Binay for statements but their personal lines could not be reached as of press time.
Binay’s son, Councilor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay, who is earlier paired with Mercado was also called for reactions but to no avail.
