Filipinos, in general, love discounts and freebies. Luckily, there's one local blog which compiles all contests and promotions that a consumer or interested participant can join.It is more popularly known as Boy Kuripot's blog.Bloggers are known to hold contests of their own, and when they want more people joining their promo, they make it a point to have it plugged in Boy Kuripot. The site has been known to bring in positive results among its users. Here's our interview with the site owner, 24-year old Jeffrey Siy.

Q. What made you think about the name "Boy Kuripot?"

A. Back when I was still a student, I was labeled by my friends as being Kuripot. I guess that was true since I try not to buy new books, new uniforms, and lunch at the cafeteria. It was not because my family couldn't afford it. It was just the practical and economical thing to do. In my grade school and high school years, I got 2nd hand books and uniforms from my older cousins and big brother. And everyday, we had our maid prepare lunch for us. I continued that lifestyle even in college. I borrowed books from higher batches and school organizations. And yes, I still brought my lunchbox with me even though all my peers was buying lunches outside. So I guess the name "Boy-Kuripot" is simply a reflection of who I am and what I put into my blog

Q. What made you decide to come up with this blog?

A. Everywhere I look, I see contest, promos and deals that are we Filipinos can take advantage of. It is a way for us to Win a Prize, grab a good deal, or put our talents into use. So I said to myself, why don't somebody aggregate all these content in a single website or better yet, a blog? I searched high and low for any local blog that specifically features contests, promos and freebies with no avail. Thus Boy Kuripot was born

Q. Where do you get the materials for your blog?

A. At first it was very arduous. I got my materials from newspapers ads, TV ads, and word of mouth. But as Boy Kuripot became more popular, contributions from PR agencies, blog readers/subscribers and co bloggers started flowing in.

Q. Can you give us a profile of your readers? What have been the feedbacks you received so far?

A. Since my blog's content is local, 95% of my readers are Filipinos. What makes it interesting is their diversity. There are house moms and working moms, students both in high school and college, working individuals, professionals and amateurs and so on. The best email I got was the one I received from Joy Bahia. She told me that she had won the all expense paid trip to USA for 2 which I made a post on. She was so grateful that she personally went to my house to give me some pasalubong from her trip.
