TEDxManila slated Dec. 5 at UP-Diliman
The first TEDx event in the Philippines dubbed as TEDxManila will be held on Dec. 5 at the UP College of Law Auditorium. At TEDxManila, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self- organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event.
TED is a small nonprofit annual event bringing together some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers to share what they are most passionate about when it comes to Technology, Entertainment and Design.
This is what “TED” stands for and these three broad subject areas are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline.
The mission of TED is to spread ideas and believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.
It’s offering free knowledge and inspiration from the world's most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and “a journey into the future.”
TEDxManila’s theme for its maiden event will be “Sa Isip, Sa Salita at Sa Gawa” featuring Antonino Oposa Jr., Illiac Diaz, Graham Glass, Mark Ruiz and Maria Melizza D. Tan. There has been a resounding response to take part in TEDxManila.
Attendees of the event will include “thought leaders in the field of Education, Business and Communications, making the maiden event of TEDxManila on December 5, 2009 quite an achievement,” says organizer Rommel Feria.
