6 held for selling firecrackers
Operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) seized some P500,000 worth of firecrackers during an operation that led to the arrest of six vendors in Binondo, Manila on Thursday afternoon.
Police identified the suspects as Francis Santos, 26, of 31 M. Domingo St., Navotas City; Richard Santiago, of 817 Almario St., Dagupan, Tondo, Manila; Carlos Monrayo, 18, of Block 5, Lot 41, GMA, Cavite; Renato Reyes, 35, of Block 74, Lot 4 Dasmariñas, Cavite; Veronica Samonte, 18, of 200 Interior 1, Flavel St., Binondo, Nunoy Tapias, 18, of 200 Interior 1 Camba St., Tondo.
They were placed in the custody of the MPD-General Assignment Section. Police Officer 2 Reginald Delos Reyes of the MPD-GAS said the six were arrested at 1:30 p.m. Thursday on M.D. Santos street in Binondo.
Prior to the arrest, the MPD-GAS received information about the rampant selling of firecrackers on the sidewalks. Lawmen who conducted the raid caught the suspects in the act of selling firecrackers.
Police seized assorted firecrackers worth P.5 million.
The vendors are facing violation of Republic Act 7183 (An Act Regulating the Sale, manufacture, Distribution and Use of Firecrackers and other Pyrotechnics Devices).
