Literacy is directly proportional to economic development.

This is what we have always believed in TESDA, the driving force behind all our efforts in educating and training young Filipinos so that they will not only have a better life, but also help make this country more progressive.

But of course we do not stop at training.

For us, the gainful employment of our graduates is the ultimate gauge of success.

With that in mind, the TESDA Blue Desk concept was established to support our “TESDA is Jobs” objective for our students and scholars, at least within six months to one year after graduation.

Frome resume to job performance

TESDA Blue Desks are literally blue tables or booths which can be found in TESDA offices, schools and other areas, and manned by blue-clad TESDA personnel. When a TESDA graduate approaches a Blue Desk, he or she may avail of services such as career guidance, labor market intelligence, referral and placement, and OJT and apprenticeship.

At every Blue Desk, there is a designated competent TESDA staff that assists jobseekers in uploading their resumes to the E-TESDA portal where it will be available for the thousands of local and international companies in JobsDB database seeking for employees.

The Blue Desk also monitors the graduates’ performance through feedback provided by the hiring companies.

At present, there are about 800 TESDA Blue Desks all over the country. As more TESDA centers and private schools are participating in this program, we estimate to see about 1000 Blue Desks in all of the 17 regions of the country.

Fine examples

Arieane Gonoz and Jocelyn Mante are both scholars of the TESDA Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II (SMAW NC II). After six months of painstaking training, both have found employment, through the TESDA Blue Desk Jobs Bridging, at Onda Iron Works and Plating Co. Ltd. They are thankful for the life changing experience and opportunity they’ve had through TESDA.

Arieane and Jocelyn are just two of the many TESDA graduates who have been given the chance to improve the quality of their lives. With all the help and support that TESDA has provided them, there will be no more reason for them to be scared to face the world and its challenges. With their acquired skills, knowledge plus a reliable job, they can completely shun falling under the poverty trap.
