Anak TV
Surveying who among the stars deserve to be models of children
It was no less than the experts of the research departments of both ABS-CBN and GMA networks that were consulted to redesign the Boto Ko ‘To survey instrument.
The said design was used by Anak TV in its national survey that began in March and concluded in November.
Over 5,000 respondents were sought in Metro Manila, Batangas, Bulacan, Rizal, Pangasinan, Baguio, Olongapo, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Dipolog, Iligan, Cebu, Bohol, Zamboanga, Butuan, Tagum, and Davao. The instrument asked what the respondent’s top of mind answer to three simple questions:
• Who among the local TV personalities he or she deemed trustworthy, worthy of emulation by children and wholesome?
• Who did he/she consider as the opposite and disgusting that he/she switched off the TV set or moved to another channel?
• Which local TV programs were their family favorites, regardless of genre and station?
The results were collated and computed using basically the same ratings analysis used by the networks in that a heavier percentage was assigned to Mega Manila. A second level jury validated
the shortlist.
MAKABATA STARS
It was also decided by the Anak TV management team that ranking the winners was to be avoided henceforth. There were stars who copped higher rungs in previous years but slid down simply because they were not too visible this year.
Being a top of mind survey, visibility was a salient factor. The other criteria guided voters in trimming down their choice fields.
Those honored and inducted into the 2009 Anak TV Roster of Makabata Stars received handsome wooden trophies hand-carved by Rodel San Gaspar of Pakil, Laguna.
The male personalities were Mike Enriquez and Vic Sotto of GMA Network; and Ryan Agoncillo, Gerald Anderson, Kim Atienza, Julius Babao, John Lloyd Cruz, Ted Failon, Zaljian Jaranilla, Edu Manzano, Coco Martin, Piolo Pascual and Gary Valenciano of ABS-CBN.
Just a few dozen votes shy were perennial winners Aga Muhlach, Arnold Clavio, Sam Milby, Jericho Rosales and Richard Gutierrez.
