Zamboanga City — The Police Regional Office in Zamboanga peninsula (PRO-9) reported that it was not able to record any incident about major injuries sustained from firecrackers, stray bullets or fire during the New Year celebration here and the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay.
Police Regional Office 9 (PRO 9) Director Chief Supt. Billy B Beltran said the strict implementation of Executive Order No. 28 (EO 2), which mandated the regulated use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, and the security preparation implemented by the police contributed much to the attainment of a “Zero Casualty” target during the celebration of the New Year.
Beltran also said that the cooperation of local government units (LGUs), and other agencies like the Department of Health (DOH) , Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), local police and the general public contributed to the “Zero Casualty” situation in the region.
Beltran had earlier visited police stations here, and oversaw the security preparation implemented by the police to ensure a safe New Year’s Celebration in the region.
