Sharon pays tribute to OPM with ‘Musika at Pag-ibig’

If you think of Sharon Cuneta, these two words would come to mind – music and love.
It was in music where she first started which catapulted her to a string of accomplishments. This was also her first love and seems like each song she recorded became the soundtrack of her colorful relationships.
So it is not surprising that her latest album under Sony Music was simply titled “Musika at Pag-ibig.” Fresh from the multi-platinum successes of her “Isn’t It Romantic” album series, she will capture again the essence of love and being Sharon Cuneta with this new offering. But unlike the “Romantic” collection which are all in English and foreign-composed songs, Sharon goes back to her roots, singing OPM songs.
“I had missed recording all OPM terribly! I forget how many years it’s been since my last – but OPM is what I started with in my recording career, and it is what I will always return to,” Sharon said.
Like her previous albums, it contains an unmatched list of the Sharon’s all-time favorite songs and pays tribute to the unparalleled talent of Filipino composers. Most requested local hits and most popular, and simply those songs that have touched the Megastar in many ways, form part of the album’s repertoire.
Tracks in the album include the carrier single “Tuloy Pa Rin,” plus her versions of “Eto Na Naman” by Gary Valenciano, the ’80s favorite “Bakit Ba Ganyan?,” Agot Isidro’s “Sa Isip Ko,” “Sarangola Sa Ulan” by Gary Granada, Nyoy Volante’s “You’re My You,” “Habang Atin Ang Gabi” by South Border and many more.
“These aren’t my own songs. This is a collection of some of those I grew up listening to and loving, and songs I came across a bit later that I just fell in love with. When the idea came up at Sony for an all-revivals OPM album, the hardest part for me was choosing which of my favorites to delete from my (very long) short list!” Sharon said.
“Musika at Pag-ibig” is now out in CDs under Sony Music. To download Sharon Cuneta’s ringback tones, truetones, full track music from the album, just text SONY to 3456.
