Mayor Vico notes improvement in city's OGS, PMO processes
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto lauded the employees of the city's Office of General Services (OGS) and Procurement Management Office (PMO) for the improvement of their services and processes, which boost the Sotto administration's efforts in curbing corruption and mismanagement in the city government.
In an assembly on Monday, June 5, Sotto noted how the two offices changed for the improvement of the city's services.
"Sa OGS, andyan 'yung mga bilyong bilyong imbertaryong may discrepancies o pagkukulang sa ating imbertaryo at iba pang mga pagsubok na pinagdaanan natin na unti-unting naaayos. Sa trabaho ninyo hindi naman natin masasabing maaayos sa isang linggo o sa loob ng isang taon ayos na lahat, pero nakikita natin unti-unti 'yung improvements lalo na sa mga records at sa motor pool natin (In OGS, there were billions-worth of inventory with discrepancies and other challenges that we eventually fixed. In your line of work, we cannot say that everything will be fixed in just a month or in a year, but we are seeing the improvements of your office in performing its functions especially in the handling of records and motor pool)," Sotto said.
"Sa back PMO natin naabutan natin 'yung mga kalakaran na gusto nating baguhin. Naabutan natin 'yung pagkukulang sa proseso, naabutan natin 'yung nawawalang mga dokumento (In previous PMO, we encountered the wrong practices that we want to change. We experienced the lack of the office's processes and even missing documents)," he added.
The mayor stressed that despite the complaints and negative feedback that the two offices are receiving, it is essential to listen and accept the people's criticism, especially if they do have valid points that could lead to the improvement of the city.
He also acknowledged that some processes are not perfect yet as delays are still being experienced in some areas and that these are slowly being fixed following a legal basis.
He then reminded the city personnel of the importance of balancing things and to continue their work properly and with honesty.
"We know that history will look at us fondly and favorably. We know that we were able to make all these changes and institute these reforms in the city of Pasig," the local chief noted.
