DUMAGUETE CITY (PNA) — Law enforcers arrested an American national living in this city Wednesday night for various alleged offenses in the United States.

Jeff Brown of Nevada, USA, who is currently a resident of Bantayan, this city, was brought on a commercial plane Thursday afternoon to Manila as deportation proceedings are in the offing against him, said Atty. Dominador Cimafranca, Chief of the local National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Brown, who is said to be facing cases of fraud, money laundering and other complaints in the USA, was escorted by officers of the Philippines’ Bureau of Immigration central office and a legal attaché from the US Embassy in Manila, said Cimafranca.

On Wednesday night, local and national NBI authorities, immigration officials and the US Embassy official arrested Brown at his residence here in the city.

According to Cimafranca, Brown’s US passport had already been canceled although it was not immediately known how he was able to pass through Philippine immigration and take up residence in Dumaguete.

Brown has reportedly been living in this city for a few years now, Cimafranca said.

He informed that the American national is considered an “undocumented alien” residing in Dumaguete.
