100 kilos of shabu found at Aurora pick-up point

One hundred kilograms of shabu were recovered at a pick-up point in Aurora province by anti-narcotics agents late Monday night.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Dionisio Santiago said that the shabu haul was left on the roadside of Barangay Matawe, Dingalan just before midnight Monday.
Santiago confirmed that initial laboratory tests have already confirmed that the find was methamphetamine hydrochloride, better known as shabu.
The PDEA chief said that the chunks of shabu weighed 100 kilograms and were placed in a porcelain cauldron wrapped in a sack.
The Agency’s Task Group Alpha led by Director III Roberto Opena found the shabu discreetly placed along a thicket on the roadside.
The package was believed to have been dropped off along the roadside after being brought in by pump boat at around 15 kilometers from the shoreline along Dingalan Bay.
PDEA public information chief Derrick Carreon believes that the package was awaiting to be picked up. He said that the current price of shabu is at least P9,000 per gram.
However, Carreon said that the agency had received information about the delivery and immediately sent agents to find the package in the area.
He noted that in the past anti-narcotics units have found shabu packages in the area.
But usually, Carreon said that the packages were buried by the road waiting to be picked up.
