The Philippine women's volleyball team left for Nakhon Ratchassima, Thailand Wednesday, Sept. 7, to jumpstart its campaign in the ASEAN Grand Prix 2022 which starts Friday.

Represented by Creamline, the Filipina spikers hope to bring their experience from seeing action in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) for Women two weeks back where they finished sixth place.
Jia De Guzman banners the squad that also include Kyla Atienza, Michele Gumabao, Ella De Jesus, Fille Cayetano, Rosemarie Vargas, Ced Domingo, Pau Soriano, Jema Galanza, Kyle Negrito, Tots Carlos and Jeanette Panaga.
Risa Sato will also be seeing action this time after missing the AVC Cup, while Alyssa Valdez will also be joining the squad but would not compete after doctors advised her for more rest after contracting dengue.
The PH team will open its campaign against 2019 two-leg winner Thailand on Sept. 9, followed by Vietnam on Sept. 10 and runner-up Indonesia on Sept. 11.
The team with the best record wins the title.
PH team coach Sherwib Meneses said they would continue to rely on team familiarity and chemistry in the tournament similar to what they showcased in the AVC Cup where they finished with three wins against four losses despite last-minute notice.
“Thank you sa mga players kasi di sila sumuko. Hopefully ma-improve natin yung highest level ng volleyball dito sa bansa at thank you na rin at nabigyan kami ng opportunity na makalaro,” Meneses said.
