Sexbomb Dancers extolled for poll video

A national advocacy group for teachers is singing praises of the pop group Sexbomb Girls.
According to a statement released by the Teachers' Dignity Coalition (TDC), the Sexbomb Girls did a great job in educating voters about the automated election process via the music video presentation dubbed “Bilog na Hugis Itlog."
TDC president Benjo Basas said the group did a far better job than the Commission on Election (COMELEC) on the matter.
This is echoed by Bayan Muna Representative Neri Colmenares who suggested letting members of the girl group replace members of the commission.
“The Sexbomb Girls did well in coming out with an educational video on elections. I think it would be a great idea to let [group members] Rochelle and Jopay replace those who are currently in charge with voter’s education in the Comelec,” said he.
Colmenares added that Comelec should act with haste regarding numerous petitions for seminars on automated elections.
“The Comelec has already tens of thousands of request pending for seminar on automated elections.”
The “Bilog na Hugis Itlog” music video, which is sponsored by the GMA network, had been airing for some time now on both television and radio as “public service announcement.”
GMA Network representative Rikki Escudero said they made the music video to address the concern of people who find it difficult to understand the automation process.
“We decided to tap into the natural interest of Filipinos in music and dance, which is why we decided to use song and dance as a medium of instruction," she explained.
Escudero added that Comelec’s Education and Information Department and the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) helped come up with the lyrics of the song specifically in making sure important aspects about the new voting system are included.
Only a few months before elections and there are still more than a handful of Filipinos who remain clueless regarding the automation process.
An October survey of Pulse showed that six of 10 Filipinos have very little or no knowledge about the much-debated about computerized poll system.
Although the Comelec has continually assured the public that they are on top of the situation, many still express apprehension that this year’s election may become a disastrous failure.
Here are the lyrics of “Bilog na Hugis Itlog:”
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Mare, mare,
May ikukuwento ako sa ‘yo, puwede?
Oo naman mare! Puwede!
Simula na po ang automation
Sa darating na twenty ten elections
Sa automation bibilis
bibilis ang bilangan
Kaya lalong dapat nating bantayan
Nasa balota na, mga pangalan
ng kandidatong pagpipilian
Alamin na po natin ang automation
Paano nga ba’ng gagawin?
Ano bagong instruction?
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Ang kailangan sa bilog
ay simpleng-simple lang
Itiman, i-shade loob ng bilog
Hanapin ang bilog sa tapat ng pangalan
ng kandidatong napupusuan
Ang bilog, ang bilog
sa tapat ng pangalan
‘Yan ang dapat nating markahan
Gets mo ba?
Gets ko na!
Gets na gets na talaga!
Computer ang magbabasa
ng ating mga balota
Kung mali ang pagmarka
Baka boto mo’y mabasura
Sayang!
Balota mo’y alagaan
Boto’y makapangyarihan
Huwag gusutin o dungisan
Upang tiyak na mabilang
Ang boto mo, boto mo
Makapangyarihan
Pumili tayo ng tuwid
ng may paninindigan
Tunay na lider na magsisilbi sa bayan
Yan ang kailangan
Kailangan ng bayan
Isang Presidente
Bise Presidente
Mga Senador puwede hanggang dose
Isang Congressman
At isang Party List lang
Huwag na, huwag nang dagdagan
Isang Mayor
May Vice Mayor
At kung ilang Konsehal ang kailangan
Isang Gobernador
At kanyang Bise
At kung ilang Bokal puwede!
Hanapin ang bilog
Sa tapat ng pangalan
ng kandidatong napupusuan
Ang bilog, ang bilog
Sa tapat ng pangalan
‘Yan ang dapat nating markahan
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Ang kailangan sa bilog
ay simpleng-simple lang
Itiman, i-shade loob ng bilog
Ang loob ng bilog na hugis itlog
Huwag bibilugan
loob ang dapat itiman
Ang loob ng bilog na hugis itlog
Aw!!!
