Former actress Mila Ocampo succumbed to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or emphysema on Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. after weeks of confinement at Makati Medical Center.

It is recalled that Ocampo’s daughter and former child star Snooky Serna asked for prayers for the recovery of her mom last October.

“I beg for prayers for my mom, Mila Ocampo, who is confined at the Makati Medical Center Room 726. Her condition is bad,” she said in a statement.

Ocampo’s remains lie in state at the Holy Trinity Memorial Chapels in Parañaque City and will be cremated on Jan. 9.

The late actress made her film debut in 1952 via the Nida Blanca-Nestor de Villa starrer, “Romansa sa Nayon.” She was last seen on the big screen in 1997’s “Paano Kung Wala Ka Na,” which also starred her daughter, Snooky Serna.

Mila Ocampo’s 34 movies include “Biyaya ng Lupa,” “Juan Tamad Goes to Society,” “Sandata at Pangako,” “Walang Sisihan,” and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”
