Cops secure essential info from witnesses in Maguindanao mayor ambush in Pasay

Police investigators have already secured the testimony of several witnesses in the ambush of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao mayor Ohto Montawal in Pasay City on Feb. 22.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. said the accounts from the witnesses are important information that will be used to solve the case.

The ambush occured a few days after Aparri, Cagayan Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda and five of his aids were killed in an ambush in Bagabag ton, Nueva Vizcaya last Sunday, Feb. 19 where the gunmen were reported to be clad in police uniforms.

Montawal survived the attempt in his life with Abalos giving strict orders to the police to further tighthen the seucrity in the hospital where he is recuperating ro ensure his safety.

Abalos vowed to provide updates on what strategies the PNP are employing for the immediate arrest of the men behind the Montawal ambush.
