A Tale of a Dedicated Photographer

Thirty-seven-year-old Roger Tingle talks like an ordinary man. There's nothing in the way he looks or speaks that should make one conclude he is of lofty stature in society.
Yet, once you look at his work as a lensman, your first impression of him is surely bound not to last any longer. His photographs simply transform him into an extraordinary fellow – one whose talent is a cut above the rest.
It comes as no surprise that his low-profile attitude has already scored numerous clients, especially in the field of wedding photography. Not that he is not intimidating at all, but because he really has the capability to effectively document an occasion as important as a wedding.
"An effective photograph for me is one that is telling a story," he noted in his shy-but-straightforward tone.
The natural scenes stir his interest the most because of their 'stories and moods' or as how he pointed them out. Thus, travel and photojournalism are two fields he is skillful at. He loves capturing nature in its bare beauty. He likes sharing situations that deliver stories without the need to utter a word.
Logic tells that he is attracted to wedding moments because they are natural. Besides, a couple is unlikely to fake emotions on such a romantic day of their partnership. "Ang wedding," he related, "is very challenging kasi kumukuha ka from the preparation of the bride, shooting details, protraits, as well as candid moments. Dapat alisto ka kasi baka mawala ang moment na dapat nakunan."
Roger is a proud product of Natividad in the province of Pangasinan. He grew up in Barangay Calapugan where his likable simplicity as a person developed. He took electronics for a course and later worked as a camera technician, leading him to meeting photographer Edwin Maximo. This was the guy who introduced him to the iconic Ibarra Deri, whose influence in photography is innumerable and laudable.
The past decade saw the birth of another photography talent in Roger. He studied the basics under the tutelage of Deri and he needed the financial support of his ate Adel in buying a digital camera. From a band member (having gone to Yamaha School of Music as a plus) to electronics technician, the boy from Calapugan is now a professional lensman.
Being an observer helped much in developing his craft. He argued, "Being a photographer, you need to observe what happens around you."
With the guidance from FPPF (Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation), this loving father of two kids has improved tremendously in his chosen field of endeavor. He earned good ranking in photo contests he participated in, but of course none higher than when he won first place at the “Pista Ng Quiapo” and “Manila Today” competitions, both in 2007.
Roger's images provide more romance to an already love-filled wedding, shower more mystic splendor to the landscapes formed through millions of years, and sprinkle more impact to a free-fall street sequence.
"My major inspirations in life are no other than my two kids Charyne and Brandon," he expressed.
As proven, an inspired soul often produces fascinating output. An inspired regular guy elevates Roger to doing something extraordinary.
