Andy of K-pop group Shinhwa started his training for military service Monday as mandated by Korean laws.

Hundreds of fans from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China met Andy outside the Nonsan Training Center in South Chungcheong province in South Korea and presented him with a cake for the occasion.

Andy will undergo five weeks of basic training. Other Shinhwa members who are also serving in the military include Eric Mun, Kim Dong-wan, and Jun Jin.

Lee Min-ho to portray gay character in new drama

After his success in “Boys over Flowers,” Korean heartthrob Lee Min-ho will portray a gay role in the upcoming MBC drama series “Personal Taste.”

Lee will play Jun Ji Ho, a straight guy who will pretend to be gay in order to become closer to his crush.

Girls Generation to launch new album

All-female pop group Girls Generation is set to launch a new album in February.

The album comes in the heels of a highly successful 2009 for the group, thanks mainly to their award-winning hit “Gee.”
