The Beermen now have the burden of making the right adjustments as the Magnolia Hotshots try to even the 2023-’24 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals at 2-2 in Game 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday, Feb. 9.

As the Hotshots finally found an answer to the Beermen’s mighty offense, it is now the San Miguel’s turn to search for a chink on Magnolia solid defensive armor heading into the 7:30 p.m. affair which will also come after the league hands out the Best Player of Conference and Best Import awards.
Still down in the series, 1-2, head coach Chito Victolero refused to get carried away after the 88-80 Game 3 win although he admitted it was a huge morale booster for the team especially after two deflating losses to begin the series.
“Isa palang panalo namin. We have nothing to celebrate. We’re down in the series, we just need to rest and recover and prepare for Game 4,” said Victolero while lauding his team’s defense for holding San Miguel to just 80 points.
“We’re very consistent on our defense. We are No. 1 on defense in the whole conference pero di namin nagawa nung Game 1 and 2. We allowed them to score the way they want,” he added.
The Hotshots though are bracing for a huge bounce back game from the Beermen in Game 4 especially after absorbing their first defeat in almost three months.
CJ Perez, Bennie Boatwright and June Mar Fajardo are expected to lead the way for San Miguel as they still gun for a commanding 3-1 series lead. Magnolia though are out to pull all the stops in order to repeat its defensive brilliance during Game 3.
“Our goal is to tie the series but again it’s very hard. We know that this is a powerhouse team and we also expect them to bounce back hard sabi ko nga wala pa naman kaming nachieve dito. We just only won one game,” shared Victolero.
Import Tyler Bey should play a huge role in Game 4 especially on the defensive end after shadowing Boatwright in Game 3. Mark Barroca is also expected to lead the balanced attack for Magnolia with Ian Sangalang, Calvin Abueva and Jio Jalalon.
