ABS-CBN’s late morning talent show, “Showtime,” will return on air on Jan. 19.

Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Head of Corporate Communications, announced so on Jan. 18 at the tailend of “Magpasikat,” the show that temporarily replaced “Showtime.”

“Magandang balita po to. Natanggap ng mga abogado ng ABS-CBN ngayong umaga ang resolusyon ng Court of Appeals dated Jan. 15, 2010, na nagsasaad sa huling bahagi nito and I will quote: ‘For reasons aforestated and as prayed for by the petitioner, let the temporary restraining order be issued and it is hereby issued effective sixty days from notice thereof enjoining respondents MTRCB including any and all persons acting in their behalf and under their command and authority from continuing to enforce the preventive suspension order dated January 11, 2010, issued against petitioner pending the resolution of the instant petition.’

“Ang ibig sabihin po nito, mapapanood nyo na uli ang ‘Showtime’ simula bukas,” Osorio said.

Some staff members of the show and hosts Anne Curtis, Kim Atienza, and Vhong Navarro shed tears of joy after the announcement was made.

“Showtime” was slapped with a 20-day suspension by the MTRCB following a damaging statement made on the show by guest-judge Rosanna Roces.

Roces berated teachers when a contestant from Calamba, Laguna, failed to explain why Jose Rizal was named so, when his father was born Franciso Mercardo and his mom was Teodora Alonzo.

“Murahin mo ‘yong teacher mo. Ako nga, minura ko 'yong teacher ko nu’ng hindi niya masagot sa akin ‘yan!” Roces advised the contestant.

A few days prior, Osang also figured in an on air altercation with “Showtime” TV host and judge Vice Ganda.

For her “shenanigans,” ABS-CBN booted out Osang from “Showtime” as per the network management’s self-regulation policy.

Despite this, the MTRCB still slapped a 20-day suspension on “Showtime,” which the ABS-CBN management contested at the Court of Appeals.
