Sam Worthington: From Na'vi defender to blood-sucker

Hollywood’s newfound star Sam Worthington is definitely on a roll.
After the success of “Avatar,” which as we now all know have sunk the “Titanic” down to second place on its way to becoming the biggest-grossing movie of all time, the actor a.k.a. "Jake Sully" is set to revive the most famous horror icon in history: Dracula.
Sam will then join the ranks of classic “Dracula” actors, such as Béla Lugosi, Christopher Lee, Jack Palance, Max Schreck, and Gary Oldman.
Slated for a summer 2011 release, the film “Dracula: Year Zero” traces the origins of Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula, which is inspired by 15th Century Prince of Walalchia, Vlad III the Impaler.
Alex Proyas (“I, Robot”) is tapped to direct the fantasy-fiction film written by “Flash Gordon” movie scriptwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
“Year Zero” is not to be confused with the film “Vlad,” though, as the latter, said to be produced by Hollywood A-Lister Brad Pitt, is more historical than fictional.
Reportedly with a whooping budget of $100 million, the film is Universal’s attempt to revive the character which was unsuccessfully reincarnated from the past few films such as “Blade: Trinity” and “Dracula 2000.”
While fans wait for Worthington to don the iconic black cape and vampire fangs, they have to content themselves seeing him early this year as Greek hero Perseus in “Clash of the Titans,” then as an Israeli Mossad agent in “The Debt,” with Helen Mirren.
And yes, it has been confirmed that the actor will also be back as a Na'vi for the “Avatar” sequel.
