Beyoncè vs. Taylor Swift at the Grammys—so, will Kanye West referee?

Kanye West may have a field day again at this year’s Grammy Awards…that is, if he ever decides to attend the event, or get an invite to it. But security might want to be double vigilant as the battle for Grammy supremacy remains to be fought by Kanye's favorite, Beyoncè, and Taylor Swift.

Just last September, Kanye added another feather on his troubled cap of onstage awards show rants when, at the MTV Video Music Awards, he grabbed the microphone from Swift—as the young singer was about to deliver her acceptance speech for Best Female Video—to protest in support of the stunned Beyoncè.

But Beyoncè exhibited grace and class when she herself later won a “Moon Man” at the show and let Swift make her otherwise protracted speech during her own time on stage.

Barring any more Kanye rants, the Grammys will go underway with the two women vying to take home an armful of awards. Beyoncè leads this year’s nominees with 10 nods. She stands to win for top awards like Song of the Year (“Single Ladies [Put a Ring on It]),  Record of the Year (“Halo”), Album of the Year (“I Am… Sasha Fierce”), among others.

Taylor Swift, meanwhile, gets eight nominations, notably up against Jay-Z’s powerhouse R&B wife—incidentally, the couple also topped Forbes Magazine’s latest Hollywood’s Top-Earning Couple’s list—in almost the same category for “You Belong With Me,” (Song of the Year and Record of the Year) and her album “Fearless” (vying for Album of the Year).

Waiting in the wings to swoop in with her own victory is current favorite Lady Gaga, with five nominations including Record of the Year for “Poker Face,” and Album of the Year for “The Fame.”

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, airing on Jan. 31, also vies for the record books with this year’s show as it gives the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, a posthumous Lifetime Achievement honor with a show-stopping 3D broadcast of a special segment within the awards show for the first time ever.

The Grammys for Jackson, meanwhile, is set to be accepted by his two eldest children, Prince Michael (12) and Paris (11), on what would be their first public appearance following the memorial service for their father in July 2009.
